Anonymous chat is designed to make conversations simple and private, but anonymity also means you are responsible for your own safety. No service can remove every risk, and a little common sense goes a long way.

This page explains what practical steps you can take to protect yourself while using SecureChitChat, and what you should do when something goes wrong.

Even though chats are temporary, the other person in the room is still another user. Never share information that could identify or expose you in the real world.

• Phone number or personal email address
• Financial details, payment information or card numbers
• Passwords or account credentials
• Government-issued identification documents

Never share images or files that could reveal your identity, location or surroundings. The person on the other end can save or capture anything they receive, even if the platform does not store it. Think carefully before sending any media.

External links are blocked inside SecureChitChat chat rooms to reduce spam, phishing and malware exposure. If someone mentions a link in text, treat it with caution.

If the rules or safety features are ever updated to allow any link format in the future, be sceptical of unexpected URLs, especially ones that ask you to log in, install something or enter personal details.

Bullying, threats, hate speech, slurs and repeated unwanted messages are not acceptable. You do not have to tolerate behaviour that makes you uncomfortable.

If someone behaves this way, leave the conversation — you are never required to stay — and consider reporting the user through the Report Abuse page.

Some users may try to impersonate well-known people, organisations or authorities. Treat unfamiliar identity claims with scepticism. No one on this service is verified unless the platform explicitly says otherwise.

Do not send or request sexual or explicit content, especially content involving minors. This type of behaviour violates the Terms of Service and may be illegal.

If you encounter sexual or explicit content involving minors, leave the conversation immediately and report it using the Report Abuse page.

Some users may try to manipulate you into sharing personal details, sending money, visiting external sites or handing over sensitive information through social tricks rather than direct links.

Be sceptical of anyone who asks for personal information, tries to build quick intense trust, suggests moving to a different platform, or offers deals that sound too good to be true.

The service is intended for people who are old enough to use it legally and responsibly. If you are under the minimum legal age in your country, you should not use the service.

If you become aware that a user may be underage, leave the conversation and report it so it can be reviewed.

You can leave any conversation at any time by moving on to the next person. There is no penalty for leaving, and you never need to explain why.

Trusting your instincts is the simplest and most effective safety tool available. If a conversation feels wrong, it is reasonable to leave.

Provide as much detail as you can — the other user's display name, approximate time and a summary of what happened. While the service does not store chat history, reports about live sessions help us assess and respond.

SecureChitChat is not connected to emergency services. If you are in danger or believe someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency number or law enforcement.

This service cannot mediate real-world emergencies, and a chat platform is not the appropriate place to report a crime in progress.

We try to reduce common online risks by using temporary sessions, blocking external links and keeping the product simple. These design choices help, but they do not make the service risk-free.

Your own awareness, boundaries and judgement are the most important safety tools. Use them just as you would on any other online platform.
